How to start a charity

Starting a charity is not easy but a rewarding kind of business as it makes the difference in the lives of people by meeting their needs. Having passion for the cause is very crucial. You need to plan properly for this program.
You need to have a clear statement of mission for your Charity. This should describe the purpose of your business, the reason why it exists. Know your audience, the target group and be in a position to satisfy their needs for example economically disadvantaged people. It should be short and easily understandable.
Charity is a business so government legal matters such as registration, filing report, licences, employment laws and tax issue should be taken in to consideration. Handling procedures are very simple when you understand them. You should seek for a professional legal advice.
By laws are rule books that govern your charity, you must comply with them. They determine who has the power and how to apply it and how your board of directors will operate. Help prevent conflicts and protect misuse of funds. By Laws are tailored to meet the needs of your charity. Decide how you want your charity to function.
There has to be the kind of funding strategy that will keep your organization operating. Who will fund your activities and how do you approach the funders successfully; you have to identify the best sources.
Charity requires the use of volunteers at every level. Look for volunteers and train them on how to help you in things like asking for donations from people. Well-trained staff do their jobs better. Provide them with job descriptions. Make sure they are involved with other aspects of the business know your policies or programs.
Advertise or avail what you are doing to the community that your program is designed to serve. Make them aware of the service you offer, who is going to benefit from that. This can be done through newsletters or brochures for example. You may partner with other charities that have done it before.
